Hello Stackers!
It's Thursday so that means it's Throwback Thursday Time!
Throwback Thursday is changing, (or rather, I'm trialing something out).
I'm going to give you a bunch of clues and I want you to guess the year and comment a song from that year. Highest ranked correct answer (by zaprank) gets the bounty. Entries close prior to "Feel Good Friday" Post.
🚨A guess without a correct song doesn't win, both your guess and the song must be from the correct year.🚨
Here we go!
  • Pete Rose becomes baseball's all-time hits leader.
  • Microsoft released the Windows operating system, a sequel to its popular MS-DOS.
  • U.S. Route 66 was officially decommissioned on June 27.
  • Live Aid.
  • On May 16, scientists from the British Antarctic Survey announced the discovery of the ozone hole.
  • A team of oceanographers led by Robert Ballard discovered the wreckage of the RMS Titanic at a depth of about 13,000 feet.
And this song was released March 22nd.
Tears for fears - everybody wants to rule the world.

We Are the World" is a charity single recorded by the supergroup USA for Africa in 1985. It was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie and produced by Quincy Jones and Michael Omartian for the album We Are the World.
The song, “We Are the World,” released on March 7 that year, was an immediate media sensation. It sold an astonishing 800,000 copies in three days and ultimately raised more than $60 million for African famine relief and inspired other musician-driven charitable efforts.
It is an extremely beautiful song that can never be forgotten.I hope you can enjoy it🫀

Awesome song, and great little "blurb" about it. Points for effort (and sats, here's an extra 100 from me).

Released 10-4-1985, Sade stands the test of time, classic and quality, in a field of kitschy 80s music, Sade is gold.

Great song, but you're a year out.

It was first recorded and released in 1985 with "To Mega Therion" album. In "Morbid Tales", which was originally released in 1984, it was added as a bonus only for 1999 re-release.

Ooooo I stand corrected, little technicality there. Nice one 👊

Awesome song and an incredible artist but not the right year for this week's bounty.
Also, nice one to give such a write up on the track when commenting. I appreciate that kind of effort 👊

Microsoft released the Windows operating system: Windows 1.0 was officially released in November 1985.
U.S. Route 66 was decommissioned: This occurred on June 27, 1985.
