Welcome to the 37th edition of The Daily Zap — A Daily Newspaper (Kind of 🙏). Here, you'll get links to all of the latest news and updates mostly from the last 24 hours, divided in Sections (much similar to pages on a newspaper).
Let's unfold!

~Bitcoin News of the Day

  • The U.S. securities regulator has granted "accelerated approval" to 11 exchange-traded funds to list and trade options tied to spot bitcoin prices on the New York Stock Exchange, according to a regulatory filing.

Global Trade & ~Econ

  • It’s a trend that has surprised many: Why, despite being squeezed by high prices, have Americans kept spending at retail stores and restaurants at a robust pace? One key reason is a relatively simple one: Wealthier consumers, boosted by strong gains in income, home equity and stock market wealth, have increasingly driven the spending.

  • Trump, whose deep affection for the Golden Arches and its offerings is well documented, has meanwhile grown fixated on Harris’ employment there. In interviews and on the campaign trail, he regularly accuses Harris – without evidence – of making up the factoid. His visit to the restaurant is his latest attempt to sow doubt about the Democrat’s work history.

~Stacker_Sports News

  • Reddick has agreed to a new deal with the Jets and will join the team after Sunday night’s game against the Steelers. Reddick’s new agent Drew Rosenhaus told PFT that he and the team will continue conversations about a long-term extension.

~Tech & ~Science

  • Researchers have created a new organic thermoelectric device capable of harvesting energy from ambient temperatures. Although thermoelectric devices are already used in various applications, challenges remain that limit their full potential. By leveraging the distinctive properties of organic materials, the team developed a system for generating thermoelectric power at room temperature without requiring a temperature gradient. Their findings were published in Nature Communications.

~History with Mystery

  • Muzak is much more than “elevator music.” When it was invented in the early 20th century, Muzak represented a technological marvel—a new way of broadcasting music using a home’s standard electrical wiring.

~Entertainment World

  • We meet the benevolent legend, voiced here by Brian Cox, as he rides through a nasty winter storm of strong winds and low visibility. A terrible illness has left him with only one reindeer (Guz Khan) to pull the sleigh. Tensions between the two are so high that Santa, at one point, threatens to get a self-driving vehicle next winter. But while the odds are not in our hero’s favor, the happiness of children around the world — and especially those in the fictional English coastal town in which the narrative is set — depends on him overcoming them. .
