Travelling to Austin from 8th to 12th of December: lodging

I'll likely be traveling for work to Austin from the 8th to the 12th of December. Any recommendations on where to go for cheap accommodation? I'm very easy to accommodate, I could sleep on a couch.

There should be some research money left for this, but my first checks on booking.com seem to be slightly above budget.

The La Quinta in downtown Austin always seems to be popular with bitcoiners. Reasonable accomodations, but pretty minimal. Close to pleblab and the rest of downtown. Can't beat the price.

Thanks for the suggestion, but for now seems like I'll be going with Airbnb. My colleague seemed to have found something reasonable that we can share to split cost. Will keep this in mind in case it falls through.

I was in Austin recently and was doing some searching on AirBnB (didn't end up using AirBnB though.

It was very strange - the more you zoomed in, the more AirBnB's there were. If you were zoomed out, it just showed a few, but zoom in and it seemed like there were dozens in a few blocks.

I'm guessing that AirBnB is favoring certain places, and doesn't want to show (until you zoom in) how many places are available on AirBnB.

You're right, they seem to have a tricky algorithm pushing some places over others.

Arriving late at night on the 9th, leaving early morning on the 12th. It's a pretty short and likely intense work trip, but I've told myself next time I visit Austin I should def try to see the SN headquarters. What are your usual working hours?

A meetup for sure could be interesting, after work hours might be easier to socialize.

I have always traveled through several states and counties. I once went to Boston, Massachusetts, and their hotel accommodations are very expensive, but I have not had the opportunity to go to Austin, I certainly know that the price varies depending on the state.
