Listen, I fully believe aliens are out there. Somewhere in the vast, infinite expanse of the universe, some little green (or purple?) creatures are probably cruising around in their space Teslas while celebrating results of a recent election or shaving their heads in disgust of the results.
I also do not believe that aliens are here visiting earth and flying around. It’s unlikely, or honestly unbelievable, that I would see an alien spacecraft on my evening walk.
However, in my 30s I am still extremely scared whenever I am alone outside at night. I just can’t. Like sprinting to my car or house like I’m in a horror movie scared.
Please tell me I’m not the only one!
There are a lot of reasons to be scared at night that have nothing to do with aliens.

True. But, like OP, Aliens are top of mind every time I'm in the mountains.

That’s what I was thinking too.

Haha especially when the wind is howling.

We are the friggin aliens and yes you should be scared, there are Gualud's out there... and many other not-too-friendly aliens. Look at the human history in general.. we are all one big alien experiment...lol

Do you live somewhere rural without light at night? Somewhere an animal predator could be lurking?
reply
There are some really cogent evolutionary reasons not to like moving about at night. Leopards, panthers, and other related predators.
