Let's unfold!

~Bitcoin News of the Day

  • BlackRock’s spot bitcoin exchange-traded fund (IBIT) has swelled by $13 billion since Donald Trump’s win on Nov. 5, according to Yahoo Finance data, pushing iShares Bitcoin Trust past $40 billion in assets just 10 months following its launch.

  • Beyond the moral, legal and logistical questions raised by this campaign promise, mass deportations threaten to starve key industries of badly needed workers. And perhaps no industry relies on undocumented workers more than the food and agriculture industries.

~Politics_and_Law

  • Some Pentagon officials opposed giving them to the Ukrainians because they said the U.S. Army had limited supplies. Some White House officials feared that Mr. Putin would widen the war if they gave the missiles to the Ukrainians.

  • "I just want to enjoy [myself]," he said. "Plan for retirement? if it has to happen, in one or two years ... I don't know. I'm turning 40 soon. "I really want to enjoy, as long as I feel motivated I keep going. The day I don't feel motivated, I will retire." Ronaldo added that he has no intention to go into coaching when he does eventually hang up his boots.

~Tech & ~Science

  • The food choices we make during stressful times can significantly impact cardiovascular health. A study from the University of Birmingham previously showed that high-fat foods can impair vascular function and reduce oxygen delivery to the brain. However, flavanols—natural compounds abundant in cocoa and green tea—can support vascular health during periods of everyday stress.

~History with Mystery

  • On the morning of November 19, 1863, approximately 15,000 people descended upon Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, to officially dedicate its National Cemetery. Less than five months earlier, Gettysburg’s farms transformed into fields of blood as one of the largest battles ever staged on the vast continent erupted on the hamlet’s doorstep. The bodies of Union soldiers that carpeted the pastures after three days of carnage at the Battle of Gettysburg now rested in freshly dug graves beneath the blue autumn sky.

  • The duo, who used to be friends with Trump, turned into fierce critics during his first term in office, and he returned the favor, occasionally ripping into them in posts on X (formerly Twitter). At the top of Monday’s program, they disclosed their trip, acknowledging that his decisive win influenced their decision.

My hope for how mass deportations will play out is that it is confined to criminals (for crimes other than illegal entry).
There's a strong and disturbing desire for rounding them all up and deporting them, though. Since that's logistically impossible, there will have to be some prioritization.
reply
This can be a very good approach but I doubt the high profile criminals would escape somehow. Politics sucks when it comes to do the right thing at the right time.
For fun I was looking at demographics for USA and I found out that the density is quite low. It's actually around 15 times lower to India's. That means US needs manpower. If you throw out millions, be ready to face a crisis of manforce for smaller jobs. Trump really needs to be very smart in his decisions for any sort of deportations.
reply
That assumes the people being thrown out are working. Many (not most) are on welfare or engaged in criminal activity. There are plenty of those to fill America's deportation capacity.
It's also worth noting that America's agriculture lobby is very powerful. They'll come up with a new work visa system before they deport those ag workers.
reply
America's agriculture lobby is very powerful.
I didn't know that. I only know that US farmers are very rich so they can be powerful. I don't think Trump is gonna go at this situation blindly. He made a lot of promises to be back in power, he can fulfill those promises or choose not to, or can be rational or practical in his orders. He'll definitely have many heads who'll suggest him how to go about it and hopefully they have the same reasoning as yours - throwing criminals out of US.
reply
The nice thing for Trump is that the current regime has been so bad that he can make a lot of obvious improvements, without ever getting to anything extreme.
reply
I agree. Do you see what stupid decisions Biden is making now. He's allowed long range weapons for Ukraine even when Pentagon didn't want it. Is he trying to make matters worse for Trump or he's just gone mad?
reply
The regime is trying to get us embroiled in a hot war with Russia, because that will be harder for Trump to withdraw from.
reply
Ronaldo has had a great career and has made an absurd amount of money. Not surprised he is considering calling it quits.
reply
I'm also not surprised but this is the first time he has indicated about it. Because of his fitness and energy on field noone can imagine his retirement. He also looks quite younger.
