I have a feeling that yesterday when he was meeting with the Senators they gave it to him straight that he wasn't going to make it through confirmation without his past being made public.
People have said that he might end up returning to his seat for next Congress because he only resigned from his current seat however that would defeat the whole purpose of what he did with resigning. The Ethics report would immediately come back up and given its really done it would hit him immediately. It will be interesting to see what his next move is. I would expect he will go away out of the public eye for a while and reemerge in a year or so
Good job. You nailed this one.

Just being up here it truly made everyone confused with not only the appointment but that Gaetz went along with it as long as he did given his situation. If the report wasn't going to be bad he wouldn't have resigned and even if he did and then realized hey it wasn't that bad he would have called for it to be released. Since he didn't yeah... he was a dead man walking
reply
I'm interested in, did Gaetz know this was gonna be the outcome all along? And did Trump?

Gaetz has a God Complex so I bet he thought he was untouchable... Gaetz was one that because of how close he is to Trump that I bet Trump didn't do background checks on him since the DOJ had closed the case against Gaetz
reply
My guess is "yes" and "probably".
reply
He couldn't have been more wrong...
Still waiting to see this multi-year old ethics finding that seemingly doesn't exist
If it did exist, why are they still sitting on it?
Why would he resign to avoid it if there's precedent to release them after resignation?
What does putting Gaetz into submission accomplish? To prove they're scared of him?
Even if he submitted, why now?
Would this mean the people making him submit are failing to turn over criminal evidence for political gain?
Wouldn't Trumps intel sources know before making a public nomination? Why would Gaetz draw the fire if he knew?
If Trump/Gaetz knew, what stage does this set? what shoe drops next?
None of it computes, yet OP the intern thinks the public has a clue what really happens.

Love how someone who is living in a fantasy world is telling someone who works for a Congressional Committee how a Committee works... I mean the true definition of delusion with how you keep disregarding half of what I say when I answer your questions
reply
You're a theater kid, committees are theater... let me know once you get into a SCIF

Again shows what you dont understand... Where do you think legislation comes from? Oh yeah its Committees that write the bills
reply
Committees that are told what the bills are in a SCIF
reply
I'd say he would have been more wrong if events hadn't played out exactly like he predicted. That's just me and my "normie" sense of what it means to be wrong, though.

He's been larping about senate confirmations that aren't needed and ethics reports that don't exist
Dead ass wrong... but, he did have one interesting theory a bit ago:
Gaetz took a ton of the heat allowing people to get past Tulsi
Ignoring Tulsi, his being a meatshield exposes which Republican senators are controlled
Perhaps actually thinking about these things beyond superficial intern headlines is "fringe"

Larping about senate confirmations that are not needed.... idk about you bud but umm its law unless the Senate allows recess appointments which the Senate has gotten ride of (both parties mind you) for the last decade
reply

Yes, but as I explained before, "fringe" doesn't imply anything about correctness.
What makes you think the ethics report doesn't exist? It's an incident that was investigated by DOJ and he's despised by the members of the ethics committee. I'd be shocked if they weren't writing up an ethics report on him.
reply
If they had it they'd have used it by now
If they had it he'd never had drawn fire
An investigation means nothing without charges
The allegations are years old and still no evidence, it's the Kavanaugh playbook... it's "the walls closing in" on Trump for the last 8 years.. it's Russiagate
What do they know? What's stage is set now?

Gaetz wants to run for Governor of Flordia. Another thing that isn't a conspiracy he has talked about it before.
reply
So where's the report to stop him?
If they had it they'd have used it by now
The argument is that they did use it. That's why he's bowing out.
If they had it he'd never had drawn fire
I don't understand that claim.
An investigation means nothing without charges
Maybe it shouldn't, but it does.

Lmao this guy is wildddddd he can't accept anything I mean Jesus as someone on the Right this guy is the reason we get so much heat he's just delusional
There's no evidence it was used, only evidence it never existed
If it existed they'd have used it before now, else he'd never had been nominated. There are no surprises at that level.
Investigations literally mean nothing, just optics for normies.
Do you think that Gaetz may have been a sacrificial move on the Trump group’s part to lure all of the information possible out of the woodwork? The intelligence provided may mean the difference between shutting the communists down and failing in that process.

Having met Gaetz by far his biggest issue was he loved being the center of attention and causing issues. He has a God Complex so part of me thinks that given what has come out about Trumps appointments so far (I’m a Republican for what it’s worth) Trump didn’t vet those he personally liked. I have a feeling since they got the mandate from the people that he could nominate whoever and they would pass through confirmation no issue.
Gaetz has so much baggage. He made enemy’s with honest to God everyone he could it was almost a game of Pokémon to him.
I say that but also agree if Trump wanted to make a sacrificial lamb he would be 110% the one to do so with. I’m not sure if Trump thought he could strong arm the Senate or if he wanted to sacrifice Gaetz for the Sec. of Defense and Tulsi’s job
reply
Well, you got what you wanted: Gaetz gone and now Bondi in. Gaetz exposed all of the RINOs and anti people in their true glory. And now they will get Bondi. Will Gaetz reappear as a congressman or a Senator?
reply
Let's see how this turn out in the end.
reply
I think Gaetz was bait.
reply
Why did Trump pick him? Wouldn’t his advisors have known about the vetting process?
reply
So that came out.... turns out he didn't vet him... the Trump transition team isn't using the typical vetting resources and have outsourced vetting to a 3rd party for some cases but others Trump is more or less interviewing them and then deciding if he gives them the job or not

Thank you, sir.
I guess Trump has so much ‘political capital’ that it won’t be too much of a set back. But it does seem sloppy.
I thought Gaetz realised he knows too many people on the Epstein list and didn’t fancy getting killed….
reply
Extremely sloppy on Trump's part but he does have the political capital at least right now. Gaetz honest to god has a god complex to where I think he thought he wasn't touchable and Republicans would just fall in line with Trump and while yes they will for the most part the man made so many enemies on the hill Trump couldn't even save him!
