Is anyone watching the Black Friday games?
I'll be watching the Raiders games, but then I'll be eager to catch up on basketball.
The Knicks squeaked out the early game and the Cavs are already trailing the Hawks.
@realBitcoinDog is risking a strike if he doesn't get a pick in.
I was going to say, "you aren't watching the Raiders"?
I am watching football. Will watch Cup games later.
Also picked up NBA2k25 for Nintendo Switch on Black Friday Sale so will be trying that out with the kiddos later.
reply
I hope it's good. I know you're not a big 2k fan.
reply
Raiders playing pretty well. Refs don't like that.
reply
Yeah, bummer about the missed fg, though. You don't see many of those from Anders Carlson's brother.
reply
Was that short? I missed it and they showed the replay and it looked on target but didn't show the end of the kick.
reply
Friggin Mahomes. Nice job by Watson. Your DB had a chance to knock that loose.
reply
Hopkins dropped that last pass, but it was one of the craziest throws I've ever seen from Mahomes.
reply
I didn't like that PI call on Hopkins. Ball was underthrown. Your DB didn't initiate contact early. Contact was because ball was underthrown. I can't stand that rule. If the receiver has to come back to the ball what is the guy supposed to do just move out of the way?
Everyone played that pretty well, but Mahomes is Mahomes.
reply
Yep, just short.
reply
Damn. Nice catch Bowers.
reply
He's by far the silver lining of this season. If the league doesn't figure him out, he'll be putting up elite WR numbers.

Just got back from work and have to drive daughter to rock climbing right away. Will miss most of the early games again. I'll try to catch the 7pm PST games. Lakers vs OKC should be fun. They both need the win if they care about the cup.
reply
That should be a good one. I haven't decided who I want to take, but I think they both care about the Cup.
reply
I'm rooting for OKC and also I think they will take this one. With Hartenstein playing, Lakers no longer has the size advantage over OKC, so I think it will be a straight forward win for OKC.
reply
I like OKC too, but I have a feeling that they’re too heavily favored.
reply
Just got home and turned on the game. Looks like a commanding start by OKC, but still lots of basketball to play. Happy to finally be able to watch some basketball.
reply
Difficult to watch any match over here unless you have League Pass. Only broadcasting T wolves vs Clippers tonight though at 1:30 AM
reply
League Pass is pretty much the only way to watch most of these over here too, unless you're in the home market.

WHY ARE HEAT LOSING TO @grayruby
reply
I can finally watch the game. My kids commandeered the TV to play mario party.
reply
Mario Party is super fun, my kids love to play it too! Did you get Jamboree?
reply
We are getting it for my son for Christmas. Yeah Mario party is really fun.
reply
You must play as Donkey Kong and destroy them
reply
DK fan?
reply
I mean Bowser isn’t a playable character, at least not in the original ones

Raptors are making the Play in but should they?
A topic of discussion for the pod.
What do you think @gnilma? Should the Raps push for a play in spot or sell at the deadline.

I think they should go for the play-in spot if they're able, and also the playoffs if they can. I hate tanking, it introduces and reinforces a losing culture and does more bad to a team than good. It also does a real dis-service to the fanbase to tank. As well, I think we have a very good young core, multiple promising players with good potential. Gaining playoff experience would be great for our young guys' development.
reply
Look at where Philly is, after the most systematic tanking strategy ever.
Tanking is for losers.
reply
79 sats \ 1 reply \ @gnilma 30 Nov
Exactly. It also trains your young talents to be ok / be content / be used to losing, which I think is really bad for a team and takes a long time to recover from.
reply
Should be like the Lakers and win the NBA Cup every year but lose in the pleyoffs
reply
The Raptors M.O. is to hang close with good teams and blow it at the end.
reply
That, my friend, is a tanking masterclass. Tank while keeping the games entertaining.
reply
Good point. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, is much better than just being bad.
reply
ILL BET AGAINDT THEM AS LONG AS I CAN
reply
Turn up the HEAT! WINNER WINNER CHOCKRN DONNER
NO STROKE FOR ME!

Man, the Laker and OKC game was tighter than I thought. Came down to almost the last possession, but JW's steal sealed the win for OKC. Both teams putting up great efforts on defense. I say the Lakers lost this one from turnovers, giving up 17 turnovers, and I think stat line for OKC points from turnovers was 20 or so. I think Hartenstein was effective in deterring AD, preventing him from going off, while being massive on the boards with 18 rebounds. SGA is still the ridiculous SGA with 36. Knecht had a good game and picked up on the scoring on a night where AD was held back by the opposing defense. Dort also kept LeBron quiet tonight. Looks like the Lakers have been eliminated from the NBA Cup. Better luck next year.

Any thoughts about Santi Aldama?
reply
I haven't seen him play a ton, but he's a guy who always seems to be making good things happen.
reply
Ok. Plenty of expectations on him in Spain. Considering him successor of Pau Gasol. We will see. Still young.
reply
I'll be surprised if he hits the same heights as either Gasol brother, but they had Hall of Fame careers.
I think he'll have a long career as a high-level role player.
reply
Why doesn't Kelce do this when I am playing Pub or you?
reply
He picks his spots.

I’m hurrying!!

I decided to chase my losses with a Pacers/Heat/Kings/T-Wolves/Celtics parlay.
That feels like a bad idea as I'm typing it.

Heat, Kings, Celtics should be safe bets. Not so sure about Pacers and TWolves. Pistons had been playing pretty good lately, and TWolves had also been sucking lately. Have you see the interview with Ant talking about how he's not happy with they way they're currently playing? That the coaches have game plans for them, but the team does something totally different on the court. TWolves need to make some adjustments or else it will become a troubling season for them.
reply
No, I didn't see that. I know something's off with them and also that the Clippers are winning for some reason.
The Pacers are a pretty big wildcard, but they should be able to handle the Pistons.
reply
Called his own team, including himself, soft as hell and a bunch of little kids. I hope they figure it out and get out of this slump, because they were very fun to watch last season.
reply
Can Randall really be that much more of a vibe killer than KAT? They're both pretty moody and sulky.
They would be better off with a less talented, but more psychotically competitive, player at that spot.
reply
Or maybe KAT was just that much of a glue guy for the team and that much fun to have in the locker room. Or maybe they just haven't figured it out with Randle. Whatever it is, so far, TWolves were a better team before the KAT trade.
reply
Looks like Pistons continue to play well and TWolves dodged the bullet there to snap a 4 game losing streak.
reply
Are the Cavs going to bone me again, by losing to the Hawks again?
reply
Did you have money on the Cavs?
reply
I made parlays today and on Wednesday that involved the Cavs. On Wednesday, I thought "there's no way the Cavs are losing to the Hawks" and today I thought "there's no way the Cavs are losing to the Hawks two games in a row."
I also lost a +615 bet on the Raiders, because they botched the final snap of the game.

Ouch. Better luck next time!
reply
If the Cavs play the Hawks again this season, you better believe I'll be all over it. There's no way they could lose to the Hawks three times in a row, right?
