ATLANTA — The U.S. Department of Energy announced on Tuesday that Rivian is set to receive a nearly $6.6 billion loan to construct its Project Horizon manufacturing facility in Georgia.
The proposed loan would be a combined $5.975 billion of principal and $592 million in capital interest, according to a news release.
If approved, the loan will allow Rivian to finance the development and construction of the 2,000-acre plant near Social Circle, Ga. that would manufacture up to 400,000 vehicles.
US government picking winners and losers with its EV policy push. More proof the tech isn’t ready yet. 400k vehicles at what price? $50k to $60k a year. Did tax payers ask for this. Socialism for private companies is alive and well.

Is the government doing this because they want to make a direct competitor to Tesla? Why not just let the chinese evs in? I have seen a few of these on the road, l think l might look at getting one of the smaller suvs in the future. I think it is an r3? It has a pleasing shape, if they build it like how it is shown. I dont find cars that pleasing to the eye anymore.

I think they want to hit climate goals limits emissions from fossil fuels. China Is competition letting them flood the market with cheap EVs would crush America auto manufacturers.
