Great stuff!! Homemade stuff like syrups are so much tastier and better than any thing produced for sale in grocery stores. I like to make my own yogurt and natto. I know how to pronounce every ingredient!! :)
Homemade is the best! But it is hard to find all the ingredients for some things. So I understand when people buy off the shelf.
It is also a factor of time and knowledge!
Unfortunately I still cannot make my own orgeat which annoys me a lot! I just miss a few ingredients. The cost benefits are nowhere near enough to get those missing ingredients.

What is orgeat? Haven’t heard of it before.

Orgeat syrup is a sweet syrup made from almonds and sugar with a little rose water and orange blossom water. The last ingredient is what breaks my back. It is used in a It is used in a variety of Tiki drinks. It's the only syrup I still have to buy.

Can orange blossom water be made DIY? If you live in a place with oranges, it might work. Do you live in a warm place?

Sadly not, it's fucking cold here! If I am lucky I can get Apple blossom in spring xD

I have several apple, pear and one cherry tree. The neighbors have crabapple and cherry trees. We get sour cherries that are great for pies and jams. I have also canned up brandies pears and apples, although it takes a bunch of brandy.
I forgot to add, we have a hive of bees and are really hoping they survive this year. About 50% of the hives are dying recently.

Sounds like Hevan! Do you have your own orchard? Friends with 60 apple trees, so we celebrate three times a year at their place. Apple blossom festival, harvest time and in winter apple punch festival or glög feast.

No, we only have what I posted above. I was working on the yard on the “edible landscaping” theory. I also have some really nice hazelnut bushes/trees, but the squirrels generally get to them before they are ripe and annihilate the possible harvest. The squirrels are just insatiable little buggers and they live in our huge maple trees, so it is hard to keep them off the fruit and nuts.
In the neighborhood there are also walnut and butternut trees all over.
