Given that respect flows to elders/institutions in many Asian cultures, I'm surprised we don't hear about Asian mobs more. Then again, the lack of reporting might be a sign that they are more powerful and working well.

I have always admired Asian power.
And what these families have achieved is to perpetuate their ability to be in charge!!
No matter what happens!!

Olgarchies (and in previous times aristocratic) families have always been a thing and are in every country. The question is only to which extent. East Asia has this problem for sure.
