"It's harder to shoot yourself in the foot if you go into Monero."
Matt Odell
“I think what we’re going to see soon is Schnorr, Taproot, and Tapscript, which open the door to a lot of improvements,” Antonopoulos said, “But they still do not involve zero-knowledge proofs or the types of ring signatures and stealth addresses that are done in Monero. Bitcoin is not a privacy coin.” Source Andreas Antonopoulos

Apat from better privacy (as is mentioned), what differentiates Monero from Shitcoins?
Does it not have a CEO?

Here's my bullet point breakdown:
No CEO no. No pre-mine. Not a fork or clone of Bitcoin's code. Different elliptical encryption scheme altogether. No one profits off of noobs. No Scam. No pump and dump. No "board" or founder who allocate to themselves.

Why have stackers here been calling it another shitcoin then?
reply
they are maximalists, which means investing only in Bitcoin forever in hopes that it goes up in value forever. People that use Monero on the other hand don't care about its price, even though the price isn't bad, but using untraceable money and making the state weaker is more important

A lot of the podcasts about monero seem to harp on price... It's not a Bitcoin only phenomenon.

sure, Monero has been gaining value versus BTC ever since november but that doesn't mean bitcoin is a shitcoin and the thesis is go all in Monero and get governments and institutions to buy Monero, and bitcoiners will HFSP. see the difference? You can talk about price but not go crazy on it
Because they're wrapped up in an ideology so aren't thinking clearly
It's not surprising that Bitcoin maxis are calling something other than Bitcoin a shitcoin. What is surprising is Monero is probably the only other cryptocurrency that many of them give a pass to, actually use, or respect even if they don't use it:
