I need to set up another website. I had asked previously Cheapest way to put up a very basic website? and gotten what seemed like some good answers. I ended up setting up the site on Weebly, but wasn't very impressed by it.
Now I'm revisiting this topic for another domain. I think I've narrowed it down to these 2 providers - https://blot.im/ ($6/month or $72/year), or https://carrd.co/ ($19/year). I need to have my own domain.
Any feedback on these? Or any others that are along the same lines?
Never used any of these.. where did you find it? There are plenty of open source tools to build a simple website, templates you can use and reuse for free. I'd suggest invest 3-5$/month on a web server ad from there build your website.
Another free resource is using free deployment services like Cloufare, GitHub pages or Vercel and point your domain to it. Plenty of tutorials online. To buy a domain, Njal.la or Namecheap are registrars that can get you a domain for sats, no KYC, no questions ask
The way you need to think about all this, is like real estate:
  • the hosting provider is the one renting you the land
  • the domain is like your address, but you can point it to any virtual land
  • the website is your house, you can move around anywhere in cyberspace

Other stackers mentioned them in replies to my previous post Cheapest way to put up a very basic website?.
I think I may focus first on getting the copy for my site written up, and then see how easy it is to get the site up. I want to spend a bare minimum of time on this - as little as possible as is compatible with having a good site.
