I found this on X. And it really made me think. πŸ€”
Honestly, I had never thought about needing a weapon, however now that I have my family, and with so many things that are seen on the internet and in the environment, all kinds of things and people πŸ‘₯ that would threaten my family, I think it would not be crazy to think about having a tool for self-defense.
I have no idea what is needed to obtain a permit to carry a weapon, I suppose it will be the same as everything else in South America, a "bribe" here and there and you already have your permit and the weapon (it's all about having the money on hand)
What is this issue like in other parts of the world?
Is it easy to obtain a permit to carry a weapon in your region?
What can SN stackers say about this issue?
Do you support having a legal weapon to defend your family? πŸ€”πŸ”«

Being in a country that most don’t have guns im fine with people not having them. But if it was possible to have one I would get one to protect us from those that now have them

A weapon is a tool. And most tools can be weapons.

I guess this comes into a philosophy of martial arts ... and I agree here we can use "Jhon Wick" who kill a man with a pencil ✏️ something that is totally possible.
But in a situation where they attack you with a firearm. It is quite complicated not to be able to return the fire. And on occasion it is until the difference between dying or living.
Recently I saw a video of an old man, who tried to steal just when he parked his car in front of his house. He was a lord of more 70 but was totally awake, barely the delicates were violently lowered from a car that stood abruptly next to him ... The man unbridled and as if he were from the distant west. Pum Pum πŸ”«πŸ’₯ He killed one and fright to the other two subjects in a flickering.

Then why not say firearm, instead of weapon?

You're right, I suppose these are the kind of cases where objects or situations are misnamed.

It's interesting how people's politics change when they have skin in the game...

i really hate how they took away the gun emoji... it seems like a needless limitation on my ability to express myself.

I totally agree with you, it is a total sensation what is being seen. Another example is that on YouTube, content creators cannot name words such as:
  • Terrorist
  • Violation
  • dead
  • Drug
  • September 11
Among others, because either they lay the video or demonize it.
