I am still licking my wounds after picking Lille this week. Honestly, I thought it was going to be a safe bet as they were performing well at home this year. They beat Real Madrid earlier this year. But, this is sport, Borussia won the tie and I will be rebuying with 2000 sats, which will be added to the pool.
Apart from me, the rest of stackers had an easy round. On Tuesday, @grayruby and @User21000000, were rooting for Inter. The Italians beat Feyenoord 2-1 and are through to next round.
@Suraz played a safe bet on Barça and they did not disappointed him as they won clearly 3-1, with 3 goals in less than 45 minutes. Players slowed down in the second half and Benfica was unable to reduce the difference. They seem a strong option for the final and, who knows, to win it.
Finally, @TNStacker supported Bayern Munich against their German rivals from Leverkusen. The Bavarians managed to win it again 0-2, reaching an aggregate of 5-0. I thought that this tie was going to be tougher.
On Wednesday, apart from my disaster, @Undisciplined chose Arsenal. They had a big lead after the first leg (7-1) and I think that the motivation was not great. They draw (2-2) against PSV, enough for passing the round.
Elsewhere, one of the favorites to the title this year, Liverpool lost at home against PSG. The match ended 0-1 after 120 minutes of play. There were plenty of opportunities to increase the goals and the match was exciting, but everything was decided in the penalty shoot-out. Donnarumma, PSG's goalkeeper, saved two penalty kicks and became the hero of the night.
The Spanish derby between Real Madrid and Atletico was a dramatic tie too. Atletico scored just after 1 minute of play. Both teams were unable to score another goal during the 119 minutes until the end of the match. In the penalty shoot-out, Atletico missed two penalties and Real Madrid went through to the QF. There was some referee controversy as the VAR disallowed one of the Atletico penalties because, apparently, Julian touched the ball twice. You can see that the Chiefs are not the only ones getting some help.
Aston Villa won 3-0 to Brugge and is also in the QF.
This is how our Survivor Pool goes:
