@Coffeee listened to me ranting about how stupid the current sports streaming situation is, on the latest episode of the Stacker Sports Pod (which made it in the top 40 on Fountain!).
He messaged me that pretty much all sporting events can be watched live at https://betplay.io/en/. I couldn't believe it. Can it really be that simple? Well, last night's NBA games were certainly viewable.
This is huge! Sports streaming costs an insane amount and it's been available for free this whole time.
Apparently, other sportsbooks have had this option for a long time, but they are KYC and require a sufficient deposit before you can stream. Not only is BetPlay non-KYC, but there's no deposit required. It also uses LN!
I'm starting to see why this is Coffee's favorite sportsbook.
That's interesting. Fanduel has an option to follow games through gamecast but not to watch them. I wonder how they pull this off and how long they can get away with it.

I'm wondering the same thing. Not every jurisdiction honors American copyright claims, though.

I am going to test it out tonight after our baseball draft.

He said the feed is not always in English, so they must draw from local streams when they have to. It might be exactly what I was saying we needed, in order to get the big players to offer something reasonable.

Hopefully it can last for next nfl season
Wonder if it has redzone lol
reply
I don't think it would have RedZone. More likely it would be a Bulgarian language feed of the game you want.

What is the minimum deposit? I tried to check with 39 sats through the Lightning Network, but it wasn't deposited.
reply
I don't know. I haven't deposited anything yet. You don't need to in order to stream games.
You may need to use a VPN, though. I know you can view games in Canada.

Yeah, found some glitches too. Maybe still a lot of progress to be made.

Probably so

This is what I’m seeing when I try to access the Sportsbook. Maybe it requires a login?
Anyway, I’ve been able to stream some games that I’ve wagered on on other sports books like FanDuel and bet365. Not every game though, only some

Eh, VPN did the trick

The Bucks stream was in Greek, I think.

Wow, cool.
Is it legal? Asking for a friend
reply
I didn't ask, which is my preferred approach.
reply
Guess it's up to my friend in Canada whether he wants to risk it
