Aaron Judge is a prolific power hitter.
Yesterday he played in his 1000th career game and easily became the record holder for most home runs through 1000 games.
"Judge’s 321 home runs are the most for any player through his first 1,000 games, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. The previous mark was held by Ryan Howard, who had 279 homers in his first 1,000 games.
Additionally, Judge’s 321 home runs in 1,000 games match Babe Ruth’s performance (321 home runs) over his first 1,000 games with the Yankees."
Could Judge possibly break Barry Bonds all time home run of 762? Possibly, but it seems highly unlikely. Aaron Judge is turning 33 years old this month. Even if he played until he was 43 he would need to average 44 homers per year, which seems quite doable for a Judge still in his prime but it's hard to imagine he will be hitting 44 homers a year, or staying healthy enough to, in his late 30s and early 40s. So for him to have a chance he probably needs to average 60 for the next 5 years or play and stay healthy until he is 45.
Either way, it seem highly improbable, but he is on pace to become one of baseball's legends.
Sats for all,
