The Anaheim ducks look to get a massive upgrade.
OC Sports & Entertainment (OCSE) has commenced a $1.1B renovation of the Honda Center in Anaheim, a privately-funded project that will spruce up the 31-year-old, city-owned home of the NHL’s Ducks. The Samueli family, which owns the Ducks, is solely funding the arena project and the $4B OCVibe mixed-use development that’s being built in 95 acres surrounding the arena.
While projects of more minor scope have been completed at Honda Center over the years to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars, the building has never had a single major renovation like this one, let alone one that would measure as one of -- maybe the -- largest private investment into a publicly owned arena ever. Henry Samueli is worth $19.5B, according to Forbes, making him the 101st richest person in the world as of April 29.
All private money it appears. Love to see when billionaires pay for their own stuff!
