I’ve been thinking about this a lot. I recently witnessed a little girl (approximately 6 years old) almost lose her life by drowning in a pool, it all happened so suddenly, it was a children’s pool, my daughter was swimming there, I called her to have lunch and 2 minutes later we see how they are taking the girl out of the pool totally unconscious, they laid her on the floor to perform CPR and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, the curious thing about this is that the person who saved her life was NOT the “lifeguard”, but a man who was enjoying the place, he was a person who had nothing to do with the security detail of the establishment, thank goodness this man was there and managed to get the girl breathing again while the paramedics arrived. It was a desperate situation, although the girl was already breathing, she was still unconscious when the paramedics took her away.

This kept me grounded in the fact that we can't rely on or expect other people to save our loved ones or ourselves. We must be as self-sufficient as possible and teach our children to be as independent as possible.
