Darkwire is an open-source project enabling off-grid communication and Bitcoin transactions using LoRa radio. Developed as a Bitcoin 2025 Hackathon submission, it provides a resilient alternative when internet access is unavailable or censored. Inspired by real-world necessity, Darkwire creates a decentralized mesh network where encrypted data packets hop between affordable hardware nodes, bypassing traditional ISPs, satellites, and centralized control points. It's built on the belief that while the internet is optional, freedom isn't, offering a crucial tool for communication and financial autonomy in challenging environments.
