btw, I'm planning to write some thoughts about my recent journey into exploring different sects of the Church (big tent I mean) and what God is teaching me.
As someone that values autonomy and freedom what he is saying really sits well with me as I recognize that I need banks to my river. I need the Word of God, I need the church and to be accountable to brothers in the faith. We idolize individuality and this sin can be hard to see in ourselves when it is not visible to us due to the cultural lens we all wear.
I was just watching Jimmy’s talk from TGFB in Vegas yesterday, and on his last slide—which I’m not sure he’s shared publicly yet—he spoke about the suffering that comes with responsibility and purpose.
Over time, that suffering builds a thicker skin in a man, allowing him to carry more responsibility—and with it, more suffering.
It was really powerful to hear another Bitcoiner, someone I deeply respect, articulate that so clearly.
Thanks for sharing this @Car. I'm going to start sharing more faith based things here. There was so much encouragement in this episode. I agree, its surprising but encouraging to see more and more men of faith being given access to large platforms. I pray that many will come to faith in Jesus because of it. Jesus is the answer to the problems of our day and I pray more people will realize this.
Yeah, I'm hearing that right away. I've been so encouraged to find brothers and sisters in the faith in the Catholic church and the Orthodox church. We protestants and non-protestants alike can learn so much if we are charitable, curious, and humble. Doesn't mean we agree on everything but being charitable is undervalued these days.
Oh course Tucker makes some common mistakes about AI. Like saying its doing things autonomously and lying. Every story I've seen about things that make these claims are false or misleading.
By doing thing autonomously I believe he's referring to the "testing" being done by some of these AI companies that say the AI is doing things that make no sense. I'm skeptical about these stories as they sound like self serving hype to get investor's attention.
From what I've learned about LLMs what is going on is the chatbot is creating responses the algorithm calculates would be an expected response. There is no will or intent. This has yet to be shown.
And LLMs know nothing. They are prediction machines that generate text that statistically would be expected based on their training. It might seem like a subtle difference but I respected the Bishop's humility on the subject. I wish Tucker would show more restraint when he talks about technology he doesn't understand. His past statements on Signal for example. I don't trust Tucker.
