There is no such thing as "lost coins". You can lose your keys and thus the coins are lost to you, but the coins still exist. Potentially these are never accessible or spendable but they likely eventually get accessed by a hacker (who knows how far in the future) or some future upgrade that allows for unlock of "stranded coins". Maybe to pay miners for the next 20 years but nevertheless the coins are not lost.
