Rothbard called the state a "gang of thieves writ large".
The generally accepted origin theory for the state is along these lines, though. Early in the neolithic revolution farmers and ranchers were very vulnerable to roving bandits. Those bandits would steal everything and kill or rape everyone.
Then, some very low time preference bandits realized that they could loot the same people continuously and it would be much more efficient. They just had to keep the other bandits away. Thus was borne the state.
Yes, continual bleeding of the cow is what some of the herding people do to their cows. A little here and a little there, the cow survives and so does the parasite herder overlord get along. I guess this is the difference in the high and low time preference criminal overlord. I think Hoppe was describing some very low time preference overlords royals in his theory that royalty is better than democracy; its all in the time preference levels.

That's right. It's very similar to Hoppe's criticism of democracy, where you can basically think of the elected politicians as roving bandits, since they don't feel the consequences of their looting.

I think some of them are beginning to feel some heat. But the roots aren’t being struck at yet! When are we going to go after the NGOs that are in all cases, tax subsidized troublemakers? When are we going to go after the paymasters instead of the worker bees in the streets? I think it is coming as it is revealed.
reply
Well, some of the NGO's have taken pretty big hits. That's about the only good Trump has done so far.

He has got to hit them strong enough to totally drain all their monetary resources. He then has to go for the other sources of the pay to the street soldiers and drain them, no matter who they are, including Soros and the motherWEFers.
