Hi stackers, I’m a student from Malawi currently on vacation in my rural hometown of Namitete. Life here is simple, but hard — especially with the Kwacha constantly losing value and prices of essentials going up.
Most people here have never heard of Bitcoin. Yet, I believe Bitcoin could change lives in places like this. Why? Because:
People here don’t trust banks.
Mobile money is expensive and often unreliable.
Inflation eats away at savings.
Sending money across borders is a nightmare.
What if we could save in sats instead of unstable local currency? What if young people here could earn Bitcoin online for small tasks or local trade? I'm trying to be an example — I recently started a small rice-selling business and want to accept Bitcoin in the future.
I’m still learning, and I’m grateful for platforms like Stacker News where I can ask, read, and connect.
To Bitcoiners out there: What advice do you have for someone trying to grow Bitcoin awareness and use in a rural, unbanked part of Africa?
Let’s share ideas and stack hope ✊ #BitcoinForThePeople
