You miss a lot of that artificial stuff, when you watch the freely available feeds, instead of the broadcasts. Plus, it's free.
I think fashionable opinion turned against sports precisely because it is a display of human excellence and proof of radical inequality in ability.
That may be the exact truth of the matter, but there is also the celebrity factor involved and all of the hucksterism going on. There is not much true celebrity in the sports because there are not that many unsponsored excellent players. But, yes, displaying excellence is now a frowned upon activity because feelz. That is one thing that is just beyond my reasoning and ability to understand, why anyone should feel badly because someone else is excellent at something they are not. I put it down to plain old envy.
