Man oh man would I not want to be a Knicks fan or someone who works in that front office. I looked back and it is very very rare that this kind of stuff would happen at least publically where you have had 3 NBA teams deny your request to interview your head coach. I honestly would love to know the Knicks logic here because it seems like they fired their coach without much of a plan or a person they were in on.
Even retired Villanova head coach Jay Wright has come out and told them he was not interested after they approached him. This is just plain stupid looking because why would any of those three teams actually let you interview their HC without a SIGNIFICANT return for letting to coach go.
Why would teams let the Knicks poach their HC? If it is an assistant or maybe if it is that guys dream job (he grew up in NY or played for Knicks) it makes sense but why would you help another team by allowing them to poach a guy you have under contract.
I don't fault the Knicks for asking but I am not surprised by this at all.
