I’ve been using Lightsats on the Lightning Network. If the receiver doesn’t redeem the sats within a pre-determined time, the gifted sats will automatically return to the person creating the gift.
That's a really good idea, the idea for me is to gift it for kids especially and when they're old enough they find they have some BTC put aside
I'm always a little worried when I gift on chain btc. What if the recipient doesn't take it seriously and loses the keys? Also if it's too small, it could be dust if fees go up a lot (the mempool will never clear...)
Ecash is a great idea, if you lose it, at least the sats aren't burned. (Haters will say this is my implicit admitted ssion that ecash is custodial, but it's not.)
