While this survey was mostly focused on people's use of exchanges, there are some interesting data points in there. Mostly: I'm worried that self-custody is never going to catch on very widely because people are just too afraid to actually hold their own keys.
Kraken interviewed 789 "U.S. crypto holders" for their survey (released June 16).
One result that did surprise me is that 23% of respondents said they used multisig. I imagined the number was quite a bit lower. But it may be that people are including shitty fake multisig like Tangem...
789 people sampled how - Kraken customers? Cold calls? Paid 5 sats for their info?
I couldn't find details like this so it's probably bs.
Thanks. Missed that. So it's paid panelists.
you're probably right, but I'm so interested in data about self-custody, I'll jump at most anything.
Oh not saying you're bs-ing, just the source is... questionable.
I wouldn't say 23% use multi-sig either. Maybe it's got something to do with this:
Yeah that 23% multisig is very suspect.
Well, I would say these polls might not be accurate as anyone who knows how to do cold storage probably wouldn't do surveys like this.
nice try, fed.
yeah, you wonder what kind of person actually responds to such a survey.
The 50% that aren't afraid don't know what they don't know...
They should all be scared. Scared enough to get it right!
