Yes, I got it wrong. As, @grayruby and @Undisciplined rightly mentioned in the last episode of Stacker Sports podcast, I kept using World Club Cup instead of the correct name which is Club World Cup. Spanish brain always plays some tricks.
Once this is settled, I would like to summarize the first round of this new FIFA contest. First of all, I would like to say that I love that referees can comment the VAR decisions through their mic and to the whole stadium (obviously it can be listened to on TV too). This could be just a routine feature for our USA stackers, watching NFL matches, but it is unusual in football. I like it and I think that it helps to explain better the decisions that have been taken. Good move!
Another interesting issue has been that referees carry a camera and, occasionally, TV broadcaster shows what the referees sees. For instance, in last night's match between Real Madrid and Al Hilal, Vinicius clearly dived when he was fighting for a ball trying to earn a foul from the defense. It was so clear, from the referee perspective, that he was diving that he showed him a yellow card. What a difficult job the referees have!
Let's move to the groups. The top two teams in each group will qualify for the last 16 rounds after the initial 3 matches. We have completed the first round and, even it's early, we can see some things.

Group A

Things look like tight. Four teams have 1 point. They were not able to score a goal. Palmeiras and Porto should be ahead of the other two teams, they have already played between them and they should improve their performances in the next two games.

Group B

PSG and Botafogo are at the top. PSG clearly won Atletico (4-0) and they seem to remain at the same level that made them Champions League winners. I think they are one of the favorites to win this cup.

Group C

Bayern made the widest result (10-0) against Auckland City, perhaps the worst team in the Championship. Then Benfica and Boca Juniors got a draw between them. South American teams reach this contest in the middle of their season so they should be fitter than Europeans. I think that Boca should join Bayern.

Group D

Chelsea and Flamengo won their matches and they should go through to the next stage. Chelsea would be another of the favorites for the final win. We will see.

Group E

River won the match against the Japanese side, Urawa Reds. Meanwhile, Inter Milan only could draw against Mexican side, Monterrey. Italians and Argentinians should go through.

Group F

Surprising leader in this group, Mamelodi Sundowns. Borussia played against Fluminense and the match ended in a draw. Germans and Brazilians should go through.

Group G

Juventus and Man City won their matches. They are clearly above their rivals so that they should be in the last 16 round.

Group H

Another surprising leader in this group. RB Salzburg won Mexican side, Pachuca and they are at the top. They benefited from the draw between Real Madrid and Al Hilal. The Spanish side complicated their tournament and will have to change things if they want to go through. As you know, there is a new coach and it takes time to change things after a few years with Ancelotti.
I hope you are enjoying the tournament , I will keep you posted.
I don't think we ever accused you of getting it wrong. We were making fun of our own inability to remember the name and the many wrong names we attempted, but I can easily see why it would get switched in translation.

Hahaha, no worries at all. It's a new contest for everyone and, even in Spanish, they keep using different names to refer to it.
reply
Cup of World Clubs it is then.

It is shocking to me that we had it right. Although it took about 3 weeks to get to the correct name.
