Howdy frens! 🤠
Today’s so damn hot I’m sweating from my eyebrows—feeling like Nosferatu caught in a summer frenzy.
But hey, I’m no pessimist; give me a fedora (preferably bigger than Freddy Krueger’s) and I’m ready to face the sun. Anyway, I wanted to tell you about an album I listened to this weekend that really hit the spot.
🎵 I’m a big fan of post-punk—the kind that makes you want to dance your depression away, like New Order, Molchat Doma, or good old Joy Division. Nothing fancy, just music that moves you. Over time, I started exploring more artists and genres, and a few years back I stumbled across this guy from Mexico, La Texana. My god, he nailed the vibe. I first found him with “Bésame,” but it was “Lejos de tu Corazón” that really pulled me in.
🏠 Now with his newest album, La Casa Que se Cae, he’s absolutely nailed it. The first single I heard, “Desgárrame", made me want to dance till dawn on the very first listen. The whole album has this energy that makes you want to let loose and dance like nobody’s watching.
It’s hard to describe—there’s a nostalgia for a time I never lived, that northern Mexican accordion, and a sad guitar that feels straight out of an ‘80s music video. It’s post-punk, but with its own twist.
One track I especially loved is “El Sol”☀️:
Hoy soy el sol Y mi poder Está en iluminar mi senda Soy lo que me conduje a ser Y serlo solo me atormenta Tarde o temprano iba a pasar Y más vale que no haya nadie aquí Viendo que estoy iluminando Solo lo que me oscurecía a mí
If you know any bands or artists similar to La Texana, or just have a recommendation that hits those same feels, let me know! Always looking for new music to dance my worries away.
See you later, alligator 🐊
Godspeed!
PS I just found out their latest video "¿Hoy a qué vamos a jugar?" is part of the official selection of the Lift Off Global Network NY 2025 in the music video category, pretty dope.
