I tried AntennaPod 3 years ago and it was quite bad, outdated UI, confusing.

Now it's much better!

It's been my player since I kicked Fountain to the curb. Really like it. Still not perfect (when I used Apple products, Overcast was simply the best), but covers most of my needs.

What did you find wrong with Fountain?

reply

Buggy AF (major issues with skipping, losing my place, etc), and the lack of OPML export is, frankly, unethical (and had I known about it, I'd never have used it to begin with -- it's such a core podcast app feature that omitting it feels like intentional lock-in).

Right that has happened to me before. I usually just guestimate where I was up to.

Maybe time to give this a go though

Last time I tried using Fountain, the feature that was quite hard to use was listening to podcasts...

I just want to have couple podcasts I follow, see their episodes and then download the episodes I select and later when I'm on a flight I want to listen to those, while being able to skip ads quickly.

Its the best podcast app out there in my opinion. Incredibly solid. I never have issues with it. I wish a certain podcast app that has native support for boosts / zaps was solid enough to be my daily driver. It was for a couple years but I went back to AntennaPod.

AntennaPod is very flexible as well. You can easily import AND export your subscriptions. Supports most of the Podcasting 2.0 features as well.
