I am of the mind if you have an elite LHH you don't trade him unless you get an absolute boatload in return. They are so rare that you will probably spend the next ten years trying to find another one.
In my mind there are only 6 elite LHHs in baseball. Ohtani, Soto, Harper, Freeman, Alvarez, Devers. You can throw in Jose Ramirez if you want to include switch hitters.
Nationals trade of Soto should be the benchmark for trading an elite hitter. They ended up getting their number 1 starter in Mackenzie Gore, a potential all star SS in CJ Abrams and a guy that looks like he will be a perennial 30 homer guy in James Wood. They got their 3 best players and core for the next 10 years (assuming they keep them) in one trade.
I don't think Boston even got one of those caliber guys. Although the SP is supposed to have a lot of potential so maybe he will be something.
