We are heading towards the last day of the group phase in the Club World Cup and the Gold Cup.

As I mentioned in my recap after all groups completed their first match, clubs from South America, in particular Brazilians, are performing really well. They are above European temas which are clearly at the end of the season and look like a bit tired.

First match will be between Porto and Al-Ahly. Things are not looking well for Portuguese, as even if they win, a draw between Palmeiras and Inter Miami could send them back to Europe.

Then, on Tuesday, Benfica and Bayer will fight for the top spot in their group. Germans look like the stronger European team at this moment. Portugueses need a draw at least to qualify for the next round. A draw works out for both teams, will it happen?

Later, on Tuesday, the only match this week from the Gold Cup: Canada vs El Salvador. Canada scored 6 goals in their victory against Honduras in their first match. Last night, they only could get a draw against Curazao. I was not even aware they had a football team until this Gold Cup. El Salvador is at the bottom of the group with just one point.

We move on to Wednesday, where Inter and River have 4 points and a draw also is a good outcome for both teams. If any of this two loses and Monterrey wins , the loser could go home.

Also on Wednesday , Mamelodi Sundowns, from South Africa, will try to go through to the last 16 round if they beat Fluminense. It's a tough one, though they almost surprised Borussia Dortmund.

Finally, on Thursday, Juventus and Man City will play an all-European match. It seems that both teams could qualify for the next round.
