The way I think about it, degens are an input to prediction markets, which themselves are an information service.
In a traditional casino/sportsbook, the information service is an input to the entertainment product of gambling.
So you are saying I'm allowed to continue the Degens' Meetup series.
TBH I forever knew that Degen as a word has a very lowly meaning having moral standards that have fallen to a very low level but somehow it fits as a slang in a positive way for the prediction markets.
I also believe a little bit of fun is necessary because if you extract all fun out of anything, it just doesn't survive or becomes completely dull.

Unless we start leading someone down a ruinous financial path, I'm going to stick with the ironic "degen" language.
reply
This is very righteous explanation of the word, thanks. BTW, what is "leading someone down a ruinous path"?
I think it means luring someone to put the amount of sats they can't afford to lose. Am I right?
reply
Yeah, we're all goofing around with fairly small affordable amounts of money.
If someone started hanging out with us, but they were YOLO'ing millions of sats at a time and losing a lot, it would put a damper on my enjoyment.
reply
But what if they won?
reply
I’m just kidding. I understand your point and concur
Relief, I guess. Gambling actually does make me uncomfortable but I can rationalize my way to thinking I'm doing something different.
Yes, for me it's like adding some extra layer of excitement to my love for sports, nothing else. Yes, stacking a few extra sats on the way makes the joy double.
