Krispy Kreme doughnuts aren't very good.
We have a doughnut shop in town that makes vegan doughnuts. They are excellent. I was surprised because I tried vegan ice cream once and it was terrible.

I'd guess most donuts are nearly vegan. They might use egg or milk in the batter but there are decent substitutes for them.

That's what I thought. I didn't know they were vegan when I ate one. My wife told me after the fact.

Donuts are grain + sugar + seed oils for the most part, so vegans aren't at much of a disadvantage relative to ice cream.
Relatively good vegan ice cream usually has a coconut milk base.

You would think you need some eggs for the dough though.

You don't necessarily - gluten makes it stick together well enough. If we're talking cake donuts, apple sauce is sometimes used in vegan recipes as a (weak) egg replacement. Beyond apple sauce there are a lot of plant based gums/emulsifiers that are often used in vegan foods. (I was regretfully a vegan for a couple years.)

Not saying you should adopt to veganism once again but clearly there's a misconception.
To tell you the truth, India has the highest % of vegan and vegetarian people.1
However the obesity rates in India are far lesser in comparison to that in USA. India had 8.02% of obesity and US had 45.58% till 2022.2

I'll have to disagree with you there. I like them. I do think they used to be better, though. And they're certainly best "fresh".

They were kind of a novelty when they first came to Canada and were popular for a little while but I never really liked them.

Sad to read no more Big Mac’s with a side of glazed donuts on the March to high blood pressure and diabetes

I can surely see why they couldn't get profitable. It's the overy health conscious Americans who didn't let them as if only Sugar and vegetarianism has been the culprit for high numbers for Obesity.

Krispy Kreme - they were the ones who had the little donut machines right out front, where you could watch
That part was cool. The actual donuts - sure, they're tasty, but sugar and flour fried in seed oil? No thank you.
