I passed my boy my phone to let him watch some videos on the public bus. Of course, his sister was not amused.
She screamed, declaring her sense of injustice. She wanted to watch Cocomelon, and she wanted to watch it NOW!
I resigned myself to enduring her screams. Thank goodness our ride wasn’t going to be long. Just then, my boy did something magical.
He walked over to his sister and passed her my phone. Screaming immediately ceased. Drama stopped.
Two aunties spoke up. They lavished praise on him, commending him on how kind he was and how their grandchildren would never behave like that. They must have really been impressed because their praise was profuse - like the song that never ends!
Of course, I am proud. It’s not easy for a child to give way to his sibling, but he managed to do it without my prompting.
