I was talking to my son and I used the word aficionado.
My daughter overheard and said "what did you just say?"
I repeated "aficionado"
She tried to pronounce it a couple times and got frustrated, so she said "a fish in WHAT?"
"a fish in avocado?"
That kid cracks me up.
No way. First time I've come across an English word that's spelled and means the exact same as in Portuguese!
Aficionado means a fish in avocado in Portuguese? Who knew? Haha
ahah! No! a fish a nado ('swimming fish' pt->en)
No kidding, that word's gotta be 'stolen' from Spanish, innit?
I learned a new word from your story. Never knew the word "aficionado" existed. And your daughter is awesome!
She is a character.
A fish in a 'nado
When I read the title, I thought you were sharing a new food recipe (a pretty weird recipe...I thought) :P
