I used to walk by this lot every morning as they were 3d printing it. We moved and it's no longer on my route but it's cool to see what it looks like finished. Here's some photos I took of it while the walls were going up:
At the time, I was really curious about the cost performance, because most of a home's cost doesn't come from framing, and the founder shares some of that info in the video:
  • framing the home via 3D printing took only 8 days
  • a quote for traditional framing of a similarly sized structure was twice the cost (150k)
  • even with top-end finishes, the home was 10% cheaper to build than a traditional home
    • given the location and the square footage, this home is likely to go for >$2m
    • the lot sold in 2017 for $1.075m
    • the home still hasn't hit the market yet according to Zillow
  • floor to ceiling windows, given the easy of install in the framing, were equivalent in cost to smaller windows
  • the home is also more energy efficient, more structurally sound, and can offer arbitrary architectural detail at near zero marginal cost
Get some sleep! Aha

Looks like they are printing homes in Georgetown, TX (north of Austin) now too:

10% cheaper for a home priced over $2M? Is this a prime location in Austin?
