(but that's because it's shipped from the US)
why is it so expensive in Venezuela? is it import controls and taxes?

Exactly. There's no free market. The only way you can import is if you're part of the political elite.

How lucky the grandchildren (and parents) are to have their grandparents. I can already imagine they've bought them electric cars, electric motorcycles, scooters, skates, bicycles, and anything else that rolls. It's a blessing.

No electric vehicles (thank god), just two bikes, a wagon, and a sled.
The only thing she really uses is the microscooter we had already gotten her.

Hahaha, what do you have against electric vehicles? Two bikes? Why? The day you want to get rid of those toys, your little girl will surely want to play with them.

She has an abundance of energy, so we want her to use it up.
The first bike was a tricycle that she never really liked using and the new bike has training wheels but is much too heavy for her to peddle.
The nice thing about gifts is that they're free but the bad thing is that they aren't what you wanted or needed.
