Round 2
Once again, I'll include the 9 top players from this draft by career VORP. Shockingly, Tony Allen was not in that top group.
The framing we've settled on is that you should imagine that you're a team scout with a time machine who got to observe how things went for these players.
Based on what you saw, who should the Orlando Magic take with the first pick?
Devin Harris0.0%
Dwight Howard50.0%
JR Smith0.0%
Other50.0%
Kevin Martin0.0%
Andre Iguodala0.0%
Josh Smith0.0%
Luol Deng0.0%
Trevor Ariza0.0%
Al Jefferson0.0%

On mobile so I misclicked other. I would stick with Howard even though he was a bit of a disappointment. I could make an argument for Iggy but I don’t think there is enough offensive upside for number 1. This draft kind of sucked.

I was surprised that Iggy had the top career VORP. It's very close though.
I'd take Howard. He got his team to the finals before Lebron did.

Iggy had the better career but Howard had a 5 year stretch where he was all NBA every year I believe.

I'd say that Dwight peaked way higher, but wasn't consistently able to contribute to winning. Iggy always played winning basketball.
I think with the 1st pick you have to take the guy who might be able to anchor a title team.

Dwight was the bus driver, Iggy had been riding the bus all along; that's the difference. I picked Dwight.
reply
Even halfway competent roster construction around Dwight and Orlando might have a title.
