the meme, "bitcoin fixes this" is often thoughtlessly repeated, in lieu of thoughtful reflections like the one above. does it take 1, 10 or 100 years for a depraved culture drunk on remakes to wake up, no one can really tell. like you, i believe/hope something better than we have will start to take hold.
I appreciate how Nathan demonstrates the rhapsodic weaving of cultural artifacts with rhetoric, yet I find myself ever more captivated by the written word, often obsessively scouring web archives of old blogs, in ways that I never really do on YT. theres certainly something about interacting with text, the spontaneous and infinitesimal meaning making that happens therein, that is missing for me in video essays.
