I think it's a mistake to categorize feelings as actions. Loyalty, love, compassion, etc. are part of how our value scales are constructed and actions follow from those feelings.
We can choose to reflect on our values and perhaps influence those feelings for the future, but I don't think it's right to say we choose those feelings.
Yes, but don’t we choose the actions we take in considerations of those emotions and feelings? The emotions and feelings are strictly internal and have no relevance to anything until an action is taken, then there is a connection and a relevance and perhaps, even, a reason for the actions.

I agree with that. Maybe I just misunderstood what the author was trying to communicate.

I thought this was a really interesting article in relationship to what collectivists are trying to do to humanity. They are stifling humanity by stifling action! In other words, they are trying to turn everyone into robots!
