I think music should be "Play instruments or sing > listen to albums > tracks/TikToks".
Video should probably start with going to the theater, then tv.
Anyway, the thesis is interesting and the path back seems to involve doing things yourself with other people.
I'd counter, "Dance to music or attend live performances > Play instruments or sing > Listen to albums > Tracks/TikToks".

Why isn't producing it first? That's the least consumptive and has the greatest creative effort.

Maybe they could be the same. I don't think it's fair to expect everyone to make music.
...but I think playing it or experiencing it live vs listening to albums might come first
To be fair, I grew out of concerts and I'm an old, so honestly it's whatevs
I also don't care that much

I was trying to create an analogue to the athletics category. I suppose being at a concert and dancing with other people is taking part in the music more so than watching a sports match.

Back in the day if you wanted music you have to have an instrument and play it. As an amateur musician I love seeing people pick up instruments and learn. It's so good for your soul to make music. We have some local music training schools that seem to be doing well. Both of my sons love making music. It's does my heart fill with joy to watch them

As someone with zero musical aptitude (it's been amply tested and documented), I really appreciate people who have musical ability and put it to use.

That's cool. I do not share your feelings for many things I don't have an appreciation for. Golf for example.

Music is an amazing thing and learning how to make it is even better, I totally agree with you.

Indeed, that is the path back. People will begin to realize the value of community more. Your online friends aren't gonna help you move or sit with you when you lose a loved one.
