In the real world, it shouldn’t matter if you can’t really spell because of all the technological affordances out there. However, when you are a primary school kid trying to advance to the next stage of your education, your spelling prowess unfortunately matters.
I have gotten this kid with dyslexia and ADHD to sit beside me so that I can help him with spelling whenever I can.
The other day, I noticed that he didn’t spell people accurately. However, I forgot the mnemonic that would help him to do so: people eat omelettes people love eggs.
But no matter, my student spelt it right the next day. As you can see from the picture below, he has developing his unique word to nailing down the spelling:
