In Venezuela, specifically in San Cristóbal, Táchira, something special happens when people graduate from university. Here in my city, there's a tradition of celebrating graduation with a "cervezada" (beer) party, which is a massive celebration attended by all graduates, their family, and friends. It's usually held in a gigantic open space, attended by thousands of people, and there's beer flying everywhere... literally (you'll see why).
On this occasion, I attended because I was hired as a photographer by six girls. I was tasked with documenting their celebration for a while. First, I started by taking some photos of them together:
And then some individual shots:
Next, I took some photos with family and friends. That day, I literally took over a thousand photographs, but here I'm only showing you the best ones!
The girls and their families patiently waited for us to finish taking photos so they could finally start the real madness! It's a tradition at these parties to douse everyone in beer, ice water, and foam!
And once they started getting each other wet, everything began to get out of control!
When I told you beer was flying everywhere, I wasn't kidding, hahaha! In the end, everyone, literally everyone, was soaked in beer.
At this point, all the students were called to approach the stage for a big collective toast, and that was precisely when everything began to get even more out of control, on a massive scale!
It wasn't just the group playing anymore, now it was the entire euphoric event!
And out of nowhere, a water tanker truck arrived, and they started spraying water on everyone with a hose!
A man came up and also gave the hose man his beer bath:
The hose man took his revenge by pointing the water directly at him:
It was an incredibly fun afternoon. I think of all the jobs I've done so far, this has been the one I enjoyed doing the most.
I hope you like the photos as much as I do, and thanks for everything!
