Good evening stackers!
My cash flow is low so this painting has got to go! A bit of a back story for this piece of work. I purchased it when I was having a yellow day. Now at the time of purchase I got this painting and another. I like the other one more but I still got this one has well.
When I was putting both the paintings in my van I was on the phone to my sister and we started to have an argument. I wasn’t paying attention and left both the paintings on the roof. I got in the van and started to drive off.
Now the day before I had just quit my job out of the blue so my boss or my ex boss was not very happy with me. I was currently in Geelong when I bought the paintings and I live an hour and a half away in Apollo Bay. When I see it, what are the odds?! My boss drives past me and I thought to myself I need to talk to him. So I started driving after him and calling his phone or his partners I can’t recall. I was trying to get them to pull over to talk to tell them everything that was happening to me. When his partner says “something just blew off your roof” and I replied something along the line of “oh no my paintings.” His partner replied “ your paintings?” I said “yeah I bought some paintings” “you’re so weird” she replied. We didn’t end up pulling over for a chat they were running late for an AFL grand final party. I took a left hand turn and found somewhere to pullover safely. I checked the roof of the van and luckily for me the one I liked more was still there so I quickly chucked it in the van. I didn’t even go look for the other one I just shrugged my shoulders and said “it must be for someone else.”
A few weeks later I called the gallery where I purchased the painting to enquire about analog cameras and one of the owners said to me “did you loose one of your paintings because someone returned it to the gallery. I was stunned and a little concerned hoping it didn’t injure anyone after it blew off the van.
I didn’t return to get the painting for a long time and when I did I was informed they do a life drawing every Wednesday. So I went along to this life drawing and I was talking about how I lost my painting with the person next to me and he pulls out his phone and shows me a photo and asked me “it wasn’t this painting was it?” I said “yes” I tried to sell it to him at a different live drawing but he didn’t want it anymore and that ladies and gentlemen is the story of this particular piece of artwork. Below is a link to the artist’s instagram.
Now I think I paid somewhere between $800-$1000 for this at work. So if anyone would like it please make me an offer I would love to get it to a new home.
