then in a few more years it will operate the opposite way, PayPal and banks auto converting dollars to Bitcoin so merchants can accept payments in Bitcoin.

If and only if we can fight back against ossification and the co-opted narrative of bitcoin as only a SoV, not a MoE. With current trajectory I'd argue we're heading toward a paper bitcoin standard.
