Is walled-garden Lightning (big corp, Lightning labs etc) that is talked about here technically different to independent Lightning node at all? Can someone please ELI5 then issue please.

Question for the lightning crew:
With Bluewallet and others I can simply click receive and the camera will be ready to scan a QR code.
How can I do the same (receive sats through a QR code) with Blixt?, it only allows me to create an invoice, but I don't see an option to use the camera.
Thanks!

A decentralized world computer is a paradox!
A single world computer, decentralized? Why? What? Why not have 100000 computers instead of a single one

If you critize Ethereum, please do it in a way which is not embarrassing for us. Your last sentence even seems to contradict you even though I can see how you actually meant it.
A decentralized world computer could be useful for permissionless, heavy computations. You want to compute something heavy but none of these centralized organizations allow you to use their infrastructure? Use this. Also, the system can easily scale by just adding more or less nodes since the system is inherently designed to support this.
Not arguing that Ethereum actually is this. Just explaining how a "decentralized world computer" could be pitched without being a "paradox".

Reading about the history of money i am surprised Bitcoin still exists, i mean, how poorly regulated it is.
In the early american colonises for example they eleminated private curency (which was popular) by imposing a 10% tax on them. How hard would it be to impose a tax on Bitcoin?
Another fun fact is that the US dollar was originally based on the Spanish dollar which was also legal tender in USA up until 1857 and its speculated thats why the Dollar sign looks like an S.
Furthermore, El Salvador making Bitcoin legal tender is paving the way for the Spanish to set the monetary standard once again? Time will tell.

I think some countries do have a tax on it but some politicians do realize that a too high tax drives away innovation in this sector into other countries. Keyword: Bitcoin hubs. For example Austin, Texas. That's also where SN comes from.
Also, can't tax what you don't know, for example if I buy my bitcoin P2P.

Holding a planning meeting with some friends for the Bitcoin meetup we're gonna start. Hopefully we can get enough people to come to make a decent sized group of bitcoiners in our local community.

Good morning SN need some help here. My friend’s son broke his phone and lost all the sats gave him. He spent most of them so only lost about 10,000 sats. He got a new phone that is a huawei and they blocked all access to the google play store. Does anyone know a simple way for him to get access to a bitcoin and lightning wallet? Any solutions that work I will pay in sats thanks.

Did he not write down seed words? Or is the only problem to download a wallet onto his phone?
reply
Yeah I had him download a blue wallet probably just ignored the seed. But never backed up the ln wallet

Get Aurora Store via the F-Droid app.
Download and install, then search for Aurora Store.
You can then get any (free) google play app.
reply
Thanks @v1ntage I’ll send this to him and see if it works. If it does I’ll come back and drop you more sats
