My Bitcoiner friend texted me proudly:

You will be pleased to know that
I will be taking my vintage Pokémon cards in for grading so I can sell them and buy bitcoin

To which I replied:

Do you understand the significance of this moment?

You will NEVER need to take your “vintage” Bitcoin in for grading.

Grading by who? PSA? A pawn shop? The govt?

Literally don’t need anyone to verify your Bitcoin is legit. Backed by cryptography. By MATH! Trace your bitcoin back to the genesis block!

Only 21 million fam

Dude do you know how much that card is worth

Holo Charizard one of my favorites haha

reply

Yup! Now just collect sats

Each one is special
NOT!!

Each one is worth just as much as the other. NONE are special. Bitcoin is fungible money!

Since I started bitcoin I've gotten rid of almost all my magic and fab cards, it's hard to spend the bulk.

I had a bad habit of supporting cardgame projects, I have some alpha cards from Sorcery TCG, the game is good, but it's no longer a priority.

Let your friend see that he doesn't need the cardboard printed by the world card to play, he can play online if he wants to while he stacks more sats.

This is the way

Definitely a smart trade!

I guess this is an upgrade. At a certain point, if you still have Pokemon cards in your adult life, you are probably pretty pathetic, ESPECIALLY if they are worth a mint.

reply

I wouldn’t say you’re pathetic; you just need to clear out your stuff. I have some in my parents’ house’s childhood closet and some are early editions, but I need to sift through what has value vs trash. It’s also small enough where it’s not taking up too much space so I guess that’s why it’s not already thrown out

reply

That, and you didn't need the money!

reply

Yea were they rare!
