Man, the nostalgia is real Half-Life 2 still holds up incredibly well. I get the frustration with broken torrents; it's a jungle out there. Maybe consider looking into the repacked versions like from FitGirl or GOG alternatives sometimes those work better for older titles without needing Steam.
