Cuban César Prieto continues to demonstrate his quality in the U.S. Minor Leagues, but his promotion to the majors remains a pending issue for the St. Louis Cardinals, a franchise that has so far not given him the opportunity to debut at baseball's highest level.
César Prieto had another three-hit day in Triple-A and is now batting .295 on the season. In the 10th inning, he hit his 8th home run of the year for Triple-A Memphis. Prieto has a .304 average against left-handers and a .293 average against right-handers.
Impressive. Maybe a September call up.

The kid is really good. When he played in Cuba, he won the Best Base Stealer award for the year. He's also super fast at running the bases. He played in the postseason for my national team in Cuba and was an excellent leadoff hitter, with a very high on-base percentage. He knows how to hit, as I mentioned above, with both hands.
